Bear Stew Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 lb. of bear meat
- 5 quart slow cooker
- 16 oz. of package frozen peas
- 2 thinly sliced large onions
- 2 lb. of small red potatoes, quartered
- 1 package of sliced celery
- 1 lb. of baby carrots
- 1 24 oz. of package small whole mushrooms
- 2 packages of onion gravy mix
- 2 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bottle of regular or hickory marinade
- 1/2 tsp. of thyme
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 1 tbsp. of bacon bits
- 2 tsp. of crushed garlic
- 2 beef bouillon cubes dissolved in
- 1/2 c. of water
- 1 c. of Madeira or red wine
Instructions
- First you want to marinate meat approx. 24 to 36 hours in marinade
- Now you can boil potatoes until half cooked.
- Then you want to drain potatoes and place in a 5 quart slow cooker.
- You can combine celery, carrots, mushrooms, onion gravy mix, peas, onions, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, bacon bits, garlic and bouillon.
- This needs to be mixed well and cook on low setting for about 12 hours.
- Now you can add wine and cook for another 2 hours.
- Serve.
